UnionMain Homes, LLC is a privately owned homebuilding firm based in Dallas, Texas. The company constructs new detached houses as well as townhomes and condominiums in two regions: the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia.[2] It was started in 2017 by Timothy Gehan, who had previously led Gehan Homes as its chief executive.[1] UnionMain describes its product as "semi-custom," meaning that purchasers can pick from a range of floor plans, finish packages and optional features.[3]
Company history
Origins
Before launching UnionMain, Timothy Gehan and his brother, Glenn Gehan, were co-founders of the Dallas homebuilder Gehan Homes.[4] That business was sold in two steps to the Japanese firm Sumitomo Forestry, which bought a majority (51%) interest in May 2014 and completed its purchase of the remaining shares in April 2016. John Winniford then took over from Timothy Gehan as president and chief executive.[5][4]
Once the Gehan Homes sale was complete, Gehan went on to establish UnionMain Homes in 2017.[1][6]
Growth in North Texas
One of the company's early projects was Edgewater, a master-planned community covering 161 acres along FM 551 in Fate, Rockwall County, which UnionMain itself developed. Construction of the first houses there got underway in 2022. Plans called for UnionMain, Grand Homes and Shaddock Homes to build roughly 650 homes in the community over a four-year period.[1]
In Forney, UnionMain was later named a builder for the West portion of Walden Pond, a sizable community being built in multiple phases; the company's share was 200 homes spread over three phases. By that point UnionMain held about 1,200 lots in North Texas. In the same city, it developed 100 lots measuring 60 feet wide for a community called Brookville Estates.[6] UnionMain also builds at Legacy Hills, a development by Centurion American in the northern part of Collin County.[7]
Entry into the Atlanta market
During the mid-2020s, UnionMain extended its operations to the Atlanta area, beginning with Maddox Landing, a community of single-family homes in Hoschton.[8] Its first attached-home project in Georgia, Echo Park, opened in Suwanee in May 2025 and offers both condominiums and townhomes.[8][9]
A further expansion followed in May 2026, when the builder opened a sales center at Three Rivers in Rome, Georgia. The master-planned community contains upwards of 900 homesites, and UnionMain offers seven floor plans there.[10]
