Press Quotes

“Seasons & a Muse... film production corporation, founded by artist/filmmaker Jeanne Marie Spicuzza... carries a slate of projects, including the much-anticipated feature film BREATH OF GOD, the story of... Hildegard von Bingen. David Lynch, Protozoa Pictures, Vincent Ward and the Vatican endorse the project, over 12 years in development.”

– Filmmaker Magazine, January 2004

“Spicuzza herself should serve as inspiration to a new generation of women. Fearless and focused, dynamic and driven, she appears to know exactly what she wants to do and she's got the energy to do it. ”

– Bobby Tanzilo, On Milwaukee, April 29, 2003

“Spicuzza is to be commended for her attempts to speak for women in the past– mythical and actual– in a voice that is both of these things.”

–Jennifer Maher, Shepherd Express, September 2001

“Performance artist Jeanne Spicuzza… has captured my mind and my ears with her bravado. Her reparatory of vocal characters flows off the map. Her words are creative, well thought out and will astonish both male and female alike.”

–Bennet Pomerantz, Audio World, April 2001

“A “Sicilian Spitfire’”

– Stephanie Renee, CCP Ink Spot News, December 2000

“Jeanne [shows] her dynamism by changing accents and performance styles, from existential longings to fly to street wise expectant mother... A superb poet and performer. Keep your ears wide for news of this woman warrior, she is on the rise!”

– Brandon Bacchus, PL News, October 2000

“Jeanne Spicuzza reads poetry, plays music and gets involved in just about all ends of the performing arts. She’s a great talent.”

– Dave Luhrssen, Shepherd Express, January 1999

“[Jeanne Spicuzza] fuses enough fragments of dance, vocals, poetry and dramatic visuals to make a Laurie Anderson show seem understated. But the bits consistently use humor and focus to keep the production out of the ether.”

– Nick Carter, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, December 1998

“Her spoken word performances often blend off-the-wall humor with smart sub-references... The line of definition gets fuzzier when categorizing performance poetry, performance art and stand-up comedy in meter. Spicuzza has a stake in all of the above.”

– Scott Sloan, Shepherd Express, September 1997

Music of Hildegard von Bingen

Hildegard was a remarkable woman, a 'first' in many fields. At a time when few women wrote, she produced major works of theology, music and visionary writings. She used the curative powers of music and natural objects for healing. Her story is an inspirational account of an irresistible spirit and vibrant intellect overcoming social, physical, cultural and gender barriers.
