Corey Delaney (also known as Corey Worthington and refered to in the media as the "MySpace Party Boy") was responsible for a party in Melbourne, Australia that attracted international media attention. While his parents were on holiday in the Gold Coast, Delaney advertised an "Open Party" on MySpace, attracting approximately 500 youths to the event. The crowd eventually began to riot. When thirty police officers, a helicopter and the dog squad went to the Melbourne home, police were greeted by thrown rocks and bottles.

The event caused $20,000AUD of damage on surrounding houses and gardens and a possible bill of an additional $20,000AUD from the Victorian police.

Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon said about 21 percent of the population of Victoria were aged 10 to 24 but half of all offenders processed by police in the state were in that age group. She said a "high-level task force" was being chaired by Victoria Police to try to tackle the state's youth crime wave.

Reaction

When interviewed by the Nine Network on whether he had advice for other teenagers throwing parties, Delaney stated, "Get me to do it for you. Best party ever, that's what everyone's saying." However, he later told the Herald Sun that he was sorry for the damage caused to neighbouring homes. He also said that he was "off his head".

On her way home from a holiday in Queensland, Delaney's mother, Jo Delaney told the Seven Network, "We're a good family. I'm just devastated and horrified he's come out of the closet, that this has actually occurred. Obviously he's very scared of the consequences that we're going to bring upon him."
