Graffiti4Hire is a Birmingham-based commercial and trademarked[1] collective of graffiti artists paid to envision and complete graffiti for hire projects. The artists are typically hired either by a public commission or by private individuals or businesses to create bespoke visual art pieces. The private limited company was incorporated in August 2009.[2] According to the company’s website, clients include major brands like Nokia[3] and Red Bull.
Installations and projects
Some of the more notable installations where Graffiti4Hire's work has been employed include the taxi cab version of the Mandela Way T-34 Tank in London,[4] the UK-to-Mongolia Drive for Peace Land Rover utilized by the Actionwork charity,[5] and a unique graffiti wall unveiled in July 2010 at the Nuneaton Town Football Club home arena.[6][7] In September 2010, Bull Ring Markets commissioned Graffiti4Hire to address an ugly corrugated metal wall, transforming it by using a trompe-l'œil technique.[8] In December 2010, Graffiti4Hire guided a group of Longbridge youngsters in painting a community mural that features images of landmarks like Lickey Hills.[9] Police hope that this mural will discourage graffiti and other vandalism. The local constable said that the mural "looks fantastic and the local community absolutely love it".[10]
Several noteworthy publications have featured graffiti art designed and implemented by Graffiti4Hire. In August 2010, the Virgin Media V Festival, covered by the Daily Mirror, positioned celebrities like Billie Piper, Alfie Allen, Rupert Grint, and Jameela Jamil each posing in front of a customized backdrop “thanks to Graffiti4Hire”.[11] Additionally, in the Summer 2010 issue of The Knot magazine, Graffiti4Hire is credited with a custom wedding announcement featured as a trend in the Notebook section of the publication.[12]
