UNITS Mobile Storage is a moving and storage company.

History

UNITS Mobile Storage (Unique, No Hassle, Individual, Transportable, Storage) was conceived and developed in Charleston, South Carolina in 2003 by Michael McAlhany, founder and president of UNITS’ sister company, Extra-Room-Self-Storage, in response to the continued growth and exciting changes in the self-storage industry. He evolved the UNITS container through five stages of development to ensure UNITS had the most watertight and structurally secure containers in the mobile storage industry.

The concept provides a convenient, hassle-free solution to the moving process by offering door-to-door mobile storage, saving customers both time and money. In addition, UNITS caters to renovation firms, emergency restoration companies, residential and commercial builders, general contractors, realtors, home staging professionals, and moving companies, among others.

Today, UNITS Mobile Storage has nearly 38 franchise locations across 11 states, and continues to grow aggressively as a leader in the moving and mobile storage industry.

Business

UNITS storage containers are made of fiberglass and galvanized steel with an integrated roof system (vs. roof cap), providing the most watertight, structurally secure portable storage containers in the industry. Its unique containers are specifically designed to be water, mold, and UV resistant.

UNITS are available in two sizes (8' x 8' x 12' and 8' x 8' x 16') and can be stored at a customer’s home or in a UNITS secure temperature-controlled warehouse. The UNITS warehouses offer both heat and air conditioning, so valuables such as antiques, photographs and candles remain safe from potentially harmful outdoor temperatures. UNITS also offers 'curb-to-curb' relocation services both locally and state-to-state.

The inside of each UNIT has a unique E-Racking system, which allows for the most convenient and reliable way to secure valuables. This is a critical advantage, especially during the transit of goods. Another key advantage is UNITS’ capability to deliver their containers up steep or winding driveways, right to a customer’s door, making ground level storage access easy and convenient.

Packing Supplies & Accessories

UNITS Mobile Storage also offers competitively priced packing boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, tape and tape guns, disc padlocks, and mattress covers. In addition, UNITS rents quilted moving pads, cam buckle straps and hand trucks. For added convenience, these supplies can be ordered in advance and delivered with the storage container. And, UNITS will even buy back any unused packing materials or boxes.

Affiliations: Costco & ABC Studios

After seeing a UNITS container at a tradeshow, Costco invited UNITS to be featured as its Business of the Month in a number of locations. Additionally, UNITS containers have been used on ABC Studio lots for popular programs such as American Idol.
