You Can't Stop Me is an EP released by the heavy metal musician Tom Walker. It was released on September 21, 2009 for free online download. All five tracks along with lyric sheets and album covers were made freely available from http://www.mediafire.com/tomwalkermusic as well as Walker's Myspace and Last.fm pages (not all tracks are still on the Myspace). The EP is Walker's third release, discounting singles, and is his first concept album. All five tracks form a loose theme of unrequited love and the desire for revenge. Like both of Walker's previous releases, the EP includes an instrumental track, in this case 'Hidden Universe'. The nine-minute closing track 'The Return' was Walker's longest at the time of the release. Also, by total coincidence, each track on the EP is longer than the one before it.

A small number of CD copies were also produced. These were distributed as gifts to Tom Walker's friends and supporters.

Two free singles were released online to promote the EP. These were 'The Truth Will Survive' and 'The Mission'. In a first for Tom Walker's releases, both tracks had different single and album versions. The single version of The Truth Will Survive was almost a minute shorter, whilst the single version of The Mission was re-mixed with louder vocals and the guitar solos panned to either side of the mix. The single version of The Mission was also unusual as it was double-billed with its B-side; the single was released as The Mission/Testament and the latter song was given top billing on the single's online release.

Tom Walker is a heavy metal musician from Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom. As of December 2009, he has released two full-length albums, one EP and seven singles. His music is predominantly classified by its lack of a drumbeat - the reason for this being his desire to have every element of the songs being his genuine playing, combined with the fact he doesn't play the drums. The songs are therefore driven by the guitars. The two albums were released on CD, while the singles have all been released online. The EP, named 'You Can't Stop Me', was released online, however a small CD run was produced for Walker's close friends and supporters. The E.P. had been the subject of a long, drawn-out revealing of information leading up to its release. Prior to the announcement of the name, it was referred to as 'Project Nine'.

On Friday, December 11 2009, Tom Walker announced through his twitter page that a new single would be released on January 16th, the second anniversary of the release of Downhill Flight, his first single. The single was released online, named 'Hillside View'. On April 23 he announced, again through twitter, that a new single was in the works, with a title and release date to be confirmed. Later the same week the title was confirmed as "Alliance and Division", with a May 2 release date.

Musical Style
Most of Tom Walker's songs can be described as 'heavy metal', although as mentioned above they lack the drum section which is a part of that genre. A few of the songs are more gentle, leaning towards a progressive rock style. Almost every single song includes a guitar solo, something which is typical of classic heavy metal. Another progressive element is the track lengths of some of the songs. The longest song to date, 'The Return', is 9:32 in length. Walker cites his biggest musical influences as being Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Tom Walker's music also draws influence from more modern acts and genres. Several songs include passages of screamed vocals, inspired by the screaming styles of Trivium's Matt Heafy and System of a Down's Daron Malakian, among others. Several of the songs also experiment with unusual time signatures and keys. The song 'Within the Cloud of War' is in 7/4, 5/4 and 4/4, whilst 'Experiment' features a guitar solo played in 5/4 time.
Artwork
Walker creates all of the artwork for his releases. Most of the covers feature pictures from his local area: for example, the cover pictures to Downhill Flight, Another Ode, Storm's Coming, Welcome to the Village and The Truth Will Survive all feature scenes from Milton Keynes, whilst the cover to Come Back to Me features a picture from Aylesbury and the cover to The Mission/Testament shows an image of Marsworth Reservoir in Buckinghamshire. The covers to Checkpoint and Heart of Your Soul were completely digital.

Track listing
*1. You Can't Stop Me (4:02)
*2. The Truth Will Survive (4:03)
*4. Hidden Universe (5:02)
*5. The Return (9:32)

Singles
Two free singles were released online to promote the EP. These were 'The Truth Will Survive' and 'The Mission'. In a first for Tom Walker's releases, both tracks had different single and album versions. The single version of The Truth Will Survive was almost a minute shorter, whilst the single version of The Mission was re-mixed with louder vocals and the guitar solos panned to either side of the mix. The single version of The Mission was also unusual as it was double-billed with its B-side; the single was released as The Mission/Testament and the latter song was given top billing on the single's online release.
Checkpoint is the second full-length album released by heavy metal musician Tom Walker. It was released on February 21, 2009 on CD. It followed on from Walker's first release Another Ode, and was over twice the length of the first album. This was Walker's only album with a fully digital cover; all other album and single covers have included a photograph. The album contains an instrumental track, which at the time was Walker's longest, the eight-minute long title track 'Checkpoint'. This is also Walker's only song to be played in Drop B tuning. The album is in a mixture of guitar tunings; tracks 1, 5 and 9 are in Eb, 3 and 14 are in standard, 2 is in Drop B, 6, 10 and 11 are in Drop D, 8 and 12 are in D and the remainder are in Drop C.

The fourteenth track on the album is a cover of the indie rock band Johnny Goes West. The tenth track 'Adrenaline' is written as a direct sequel to Another Ode's 'Downhill Flight' and the name of the track 'Leave it Out' later re-appeared in the song 'All You People', a B-side from the single 'Come Back to Me'.

This will be his first release in 2010.

On Friday, December 11 2009, Tom Walker announced through his page that a new single would be released on January 16th, the second anniversary of the release of Downhill Flight, his first single. This will be his first release in 2010.

You Can't Stop Me is an EP released by the heavy metal musician Tom Walker. It was released on September 21, 2009 for free online download. All five tracks along with lyric sheets and album covers were made freely available from [www.mediafire.com/tomwalkermusic] as well as Walker's Myspace and Last.fm pages (not all tracks are still on the Myspace).

Tom Walker is a heavy metal musician from Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom. As of June 2009, he has released two full-length albums and six singles. His music is predominantly classified by its lack of a drumbeat - the reason for this being his desire to have every element of the songs being his genuine playing, combined with the fact he doesn't play the drums. The songs are therefore driven by the guitars. The two albums were released on CD, while the singles have all been released online. He is currently working on a new release, a five-track E.P. called 'You Can't Stop Me'. The E.P. has been the subject of a long, drawn-out revealing of information leading up to its release. Prior to the announcement of the name, it was referred to as 'Project Nine'.

Tom Walker is a heavy metal musician from Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom. As of June 2009, he has released two full-length albums and six singles. His music is predominantly classified by its lack of a drumbeat - the reason for this being his desire to have every element of the songs being his genuine playing, and his inability to play the drums. The songs are therefore driven by the guitars. The two albums were released on CD, while the singles have all been released online. He is currently working on a new release, but has revealed very little information about it yet. The title has yet to be revealed, and the project is being referred to as 'Project Nine' in the meantime.

The longest song to date, 'Checkpoint', is 7:51 in length.
